St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, a vibrant, diverse, and growing parish community in Frederick, Maryland, is seeking a Part-Time Music Group Leader to join our staff. This role is approximately 15 hours per week, with flexible responsibilities depending on the strengths and availability of the selected candidate. As Music Group Leader, you will work in close collaboration with the Director of Parish Life to ensure the beauty and reverence of our liturgical celebrations. This role involves planning, coordinating, and providing a diverse variety of music for weekend Masses, Holy Days, and special parish liturgies.

Essential Functions

Select music for weekend and Holy Day liturgies in collaboration with the Director of Parish Life Rehearse and communicate with cantors Prepare or compose instrumental music as needed Coordinate the projection of lyrics for weekend liturgies Accompany our African Faith Community Choir approximately once a month Prepare and lead weekly rehearsals with 2-3 music groups (Children's Choir and/or High School Youth Band and/or Adult Choir and/or Contemporary Ensemble. Provide music for half of the parish's Holy Day and special liturgies Attend Liturgy Planning Committee meetings Attend weekly Weekend Assessment meetings Provide music for an average of two Masses each weekend. Position Qualifications

Deep knowledge and love of Catholic liturgical music Proficiency in piano and/or guitar accompaniment (vocal skills a plus) Prior experience directing choirs or music ensembles Familiarity with liturgical planning and Catholic worship structure Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers

Range:

$35.00 - 40.00, Hourly
