Job Position: Material Handler

Pay Rate: $20.00/hr

Description: Material Handler SUMMARY: Coordinates and expedites flow of materials, parts and assemblies in and out of departments and storage areas by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ? Read pick tickets, material issues, and other incoming paperwork to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed. ? Convey materials and items from Receiving or Warehouse storage to production or other assigned areas. ? Sort and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined storage layout. ? Perform daily inventory cycle counts. ? Conduct investigation on discrepant counts and feeds information to P&IC Coordinator. ? Perform the physical movement of crates, skids and larger items in and out of Production areas using fork lift/hand truck as necessary. ? Coordinate daily gathering and transport of materials from one SMS plant to the other. ? Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools or other stock items and distributes items to production. ? Gather customer parts orders, packs and makes ready for shipment. ? Processes ASN (Advanced Shipment Notice) and works within customer's portal. ? Make transportation arrangements and coordinates deliveries and shipments with carriers. ? Verify that all materials are marked or have attached to them: identifying part numbers, RMA copy; or other pertinent information. ? Organize storage areas and ensures material is stored in logical way - placing like product together, and as close to point of use as possible. ? Maintain storage carousels and ensures counts are kept accurate. ? Restricts general access to carousels where possible. ? Maintain FIFO storage system in warehouse spaces. ? Gather garbage from around Production areas and disposes of it. ? Weighs or counts items before processing movement within plant . ? Uses Macola system to process data entry. ? Identifies date sensitive materials and labels items with fluorescent hand-dated labels. ? Generate Root Cause Problem Forms when a problem is detected and turns form in to Materials Manager. ? Complete requisition forms to order supplies from other plant departments. ? Prepare parcels for mailing. ? Oversee operation of docks; overhead and drive in doors. Notifies office of need for repairs and works with door maintenance supplier to keep docks safe and operational. ? Any and all duties assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the skills, training and abilities listed below: Education/Experience ? High school diploma or equivalent ? Minimum of 5 years of experience in a warehouse environment ? LEAN experience a plus Math Ability ? Must be able to verify counts; packing slip information; perform cycle counts; understand percentages and weight, units of measure. Reasoning Ability ? Demonstrates the ability to analyze inventory inaccuracies and reason through possible causes of inaccurate counts. ? Must be able to grasp Production's processes and procedures as a means to determine root causes. Computer Skills ? Must be able to complete daily data entry requirements using Macola in a timely manner. ? Data entry accuracy is key to this position. Certificates/Licenses Required ? Current fork lift license ?
