Job Description
Essential Responsibilities
Lead cross-functional teams working industrialization and production support projects focused on turbine airfoil coatings technology for current and future engine designs, from coating process development to inspection technology. Serve as a certifying agent for turbine airfoil coating special processes, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards and driving process consistency across suppliers. Partner with the Special Process Technology Leader to enhance the development, control, and optimization of bond and top coat special processes, fostering continuous improvement and innovation. Provide technical assistance and collaborate with suppliers to solve production coating issues utilizing a variety of problem-solving methods to experiment, determine root cause and implement corrective actions. Lead read-across efforts and document lessons learned. Work with Quality, Delivery and Sourcing teams to track Supplier KPIs and prioritize continuous improvement projects for coating quality, delivery and cost across all suppliers and engine lines. Create and maintain action plans for cross functional teams to achieve desired outcomes on time. Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments to leadership and coordinate tasks necessary to overcome issues. Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) adoption at turbine airfoil coating suppliers to enhance quality and delivery performance. Collaborate with quality and supplier teams to facilitate the creation of process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and control plans, and leverage these tools to support production problem-solving and corrective actions. Provide guidance and support to young or new engineers by sharing expertise in turbine airfoil coating materials and manufacturing processes. Foster their development in structured problem-solving methodologies, such as RCCA and TOPS8D, and root cause investigations. Encourage continuous learning and collaboration to build technical proficiency and strengthen team capabilities. Be disciplined, technical, curious, self-motivated, and able to form and maintain strong professional relationships.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years (Engineering, Manufacturing, or design) experience + minimum of 5 years
Desired Characteristics
Minimum of 8 years of experience in an Engineering, Manufacturing or Design position Technical Expertise: Knowledge and experience with aerospace coatings, specifically EB-PVD, diffusion, vacuum, or thermal processing. Problem-Solving Skills: Strong technical aptitude for critical thinking and resolving complex challenges. Industry Experience: Shop floor, design, engineering, manufacturing, or supplier management experience. Tooling and Equipment: Experience with manufacturing equipment and/or tooling design and build.
