Position Summary RSI is recruiting for a Project Engineer who will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, reviewing, and assessing design projects, including basic organization of design team, concepts, format of calculations, selection of equipment and materials standards, system design criteria, and preparation of plans, drawings and specifications. $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year This position is required to travel 25% of the time. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform technical assessments, conduct trade-off studies to define project needs and scope(s) based on performance requirements, schedule and cost. Develop critical path schedules for execution of Engineering projects, encompassing activities of LMS functional organizations, subcontractors, and stakeholders (government agency reviews, public comment periods). Coordinate and execute design work including preparation of design basis and performance criteria, calculations, drawings, construction specifications, material and equipment specifications, subcontractor Statements of Work, cost estimates and project closeout documentation (final reports and as-built drawings). Provide engineering input for development of field activity plans, as required (stormwater controls, spill prevention, waste management, safety & health, radiation control, site access/security, etc.) Provide engineering support during the construction phase of activities. Assist in providing assessments of subcontractors' work scope, safety analysis, and special design considerations. Prepare construction plans and specifications for projects within area of professional expertise (civil, mechanical, environmental, etc.) and with respect to interfacing design disciplines. Review and provide constructive comments on design work performed by others. Train and mentor staff engineers. Lead discrete tasks on large projects, with minimal senior oversight. Manage engineering tasks on projects with budgets up to $250,000 and duration of 3 to 12 months. Read, understand and follow LMS policies and procedures as related to execution of Engineering projects. Provide site leads with information to support development of annual budgets (level of engineering effort for routine operations and maintenance support and special projects). Other duties as assigned, including Engineering Point of Contact (EPOC) for one or more sites. Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Scientific related field. 5 years of relevant experience. Licenses and Certifications:
Valid Drivers License Professional Engineering License Computer-Aided Drafting and Design certification preferred. Required Skills and Abilities:
Complete understanding of principles, concepts, and techniques in civil and/or environmental engineering with knowledge of environmental regulations and local utility codes. Understanding the roles of other LMS functional organizations relating to design development, the Integrated Work Control Process (IWCP) and Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS). Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems. Ability to recommend approaches for new and improved processes. Ability to work with broad objectives, with latitude to determine the best way to accomplish tasks. Proficiency with computer-aided drafting and design software. Ability to lead certain aspects of a task or project. Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job. Clearance and Health Requirements:
