Job Summary: The Director of Dining Services is the strategic business leader of the communitys food and beverage/culinary operation, ensuring resident and client satisfaction through high-quality products, best-in-class hospitality, and achievement of financial goals while fostering a positive work environment. You will oversee the development and implementation of departmental strategies and ensure alignment with Compass Community Livings service strategy and represent the company externally. Responsibilities
Develop and implement overall operating strategy aligned with Compass Community Living and client business strategy; disseminate the vision so all team members understand expectations. Take an entrepreneurial approach, own driving desired outcomes as the business owner, and hold the on-site leadership team accountable for service behaviors. Evaluate personnel, operations, and culinary situations quickly and make appropriate recommendations. Maintain a professional, positive demeanor with resilience during stressful periods; adapt and solve problems as required. Perform daily walk-throughs to ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations and Compass Group standards. Direct and conduct safety, sanitation, and maintenance programs. Ensure regular, ongoing communication across all areas of food and beverage by leading pre-meal briefings and staff meetings. Advise and update executives, supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates on relevant information in a timely manner. Business and Financial Competence
Understand market dynamics and enterprise objectives; diagnose strengths and weaknesses, anticipate opportunities and risks, identify issues, and develop strategies and plans; align actions to drive results. Recognize and understand P&L drivers; analyze results, identify opportunities, and implement plans to deliver results. Develop the overall budget and operate the account within approved budget while delivering maximum value to the client. Coach and support the team to manage wages, food & beverage costs, and controllable expenses (e.g., supplies, uniforms). Review financial reports to assess performance against budget; work with the team to resolve concerns and improve financial performance. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
Understand the clients business model to prioritize what matters most to residents. Be visible within the community to build strong relationships with residents, staff, and other departments; be seen as part of the clients management team. Review resident satisfaction results and data to identify improvements; share feedback with the team and take corrective actions to meet expectations. Improve service by understanding resident needs and providing mentorship, feedback, and coaching. Stay aware of market trends and introduce new food and beverage products to exceed expectations and drive revenue and client satisfaction. Empower employees to deliver excellent service that exceeds resident and client satisfaction. Team Building & Management
Regularly lead team meetings and create a positive work environment with role modeling and recognition. Establish goals for performance, budget, and team objectives. Solicit feedback, maintain an open-door policy, and address employee concerns. Identify developmental needs, coach and mentor team members, and provide training to achieve performance objectives. Cross-train staff and promote professional growth; recruit and retain talent using behavioral-based interviewing. Hire leadership team members with strong expertise, creativity, and entrepreneurial leadership; ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees. Lead with empathy while maintaining accountability. Preferred Qualifications
B.S. in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. with four years of related experience preferred. Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge. Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation. Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience desirable. Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills; strong communication skills. Ability to communicate at multiple levels (management, client, customer, and staff). Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer programs; ServSafe Certified. Job Summary
