Junior Software Quality Assurance Tester
As a Junior Software Quality Assurance Tester, you will: Test basic to moderately complex features of enterprise software systems using predefined test plans and scripts. Follow standardized testing procedures, document results, and track outcomes using designated tools. Participate in follow-up testing, defect logging, and resolution activities. This role typically reports to a supervisor or senior engineer and works under close guidance while building proficiency in enterprise testing practices. You may assist in test data preparation, documentation updates, and onboarding support for new testers. You will gain exposure to tools such as IBM Rational ETM, Selenium, JMeter, and databases like Oracle and DB2, across platforms including Windows, Linux, and mainframe environments.
What you will need: US Citizenship is required. Must have pre-existing IRS clearance. A bachelor's degree. Additional Four (4) experience can be used in lieu of degree. At least two (2) years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, including areas such as configuration management, verification and validation, software testing and integration, software metrics, or quality assessment. Familiarity with executing test cases, documenting results, and using test management tools. Exposure to test automation tools such as Selenium, JMeter, or Rational Performance Tester (RPT). Understanding of software development and testing lifecycles (e.g., Agile, SDLC, STLC). Basic experience with relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, or SQL Server. Ability to follow structured testing procedures and contribute to team-based testing efforts. Must be able to work from IRS Office from one of these locations: Ogden UT, Atlanta GA, Austin TX. Dallas, TX, Kansas City, MO. Martinsburg WV, Detroit, MI, New Carrollton, MD. Core competencies: Foundational Testing Knowledge: Understanding of software testing principles, test case execution, and defect tracking. Test Documentation: Ability to document test results, update test cases, and maintain traceability. Tool Familiarity: Exposure to tools like IBM ETM, Selenium, JIRA, and basic scripting. Platform Awareness: Basic understanding of Windows, Linux, and mainframe environments. Team Collaboration: Works effectively under supervision and contributes to team-based testing efforts. Learning Agility: Willingness to learn new tools, standards (e.g., Section 508), and testing methodologies. Communication: Clear written and verbal communication for reporting and documentation. What Would Be Nice To Have: Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility testing standards and tools (e.g., JAWS, ZoomText). Experience supporting test automation efforts to streamline manual testing processes. Familiarity with performance testing tools or monitoring platforms (e.g., LoadRunner, Splunk). Exposure to enterprise scheduling tools such as Control-M. Experience with test data management or data masking tools.
