The Senior Technical Sales Manager, Distributed Generation (DG) will have specific expertise in the optimal development and deployment of targeted distributed generation technologies, including but not limited to solar and battery storage, with a goal of growing the Brookfield Renewable business, providing superior service to customers, and establishing key relationships with business partners, and leading technologies. His/her principal duties are to provide technical expertise and guidance to Sales & Origination efforts to qualify early-stage DG solar & storage opportunities, lead the development, diligence, and assessment of DG solar & storage opportunities, originate and execute technical contracts, assist in the development and execution of commercial contracts, technical project structuring, and to lead transition of the contracted projects downstream implementation teams for project construction and operation. The primary responsibility of the Senior Technical Sales Manager, Distributed Generation will be to lead development and diligence of DG solar & storage opportunities efforts in a customer-facing manner by leveraging internal team members and support functions, technology partners, service providers, and external developers to achieving award and secure new customer business and contracts. Primary responsibilities include defining project technology selection, development of project engineering plans, budgets and schedules, determining and utilizing all resources available, proactive communication with internal and external stakeholders, and to assist in identifying and promoting future business growth opportunities for all Brookfield Distributed Generation product offerings. Responsibilities will include direct interaction with C&I customers, developers, government officials, supply partners, and subcontractors. The Senior Technical Sales Manager is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of project development functions are performed in a safe, efficient, and effective manner in accordance with standard practice, good engineering principles, sound business practices, applicable codes and regulations, and the rules, policies and corporate values of Brookfield Renewable. Key Position Responsibilities Cultivating effective business relationships with target customers and communicate full scope of solutions and services to meet customer business goals and achieve Distributed Generation business plan objectives. Assess and develop technical solutions for DG solar & storage opportunities originated by internal Sales or proposed by external channel partners. Activities include solar and storage performance modeling, customer savings analysis and determination of commercial viability. Lead and manage all aspects of project development team to meet client and business plan expectations and objectives, including but not limited to technical, regulatory, real estate, environmental, and governmental approvals. Utilize diligence feedback and information to development project capital budgets, operating budgets, spending forecasts, system performance projections, and estimates on the applicability of available incentives. Work with Finance to appropriately apply resultant technical information into project finance models in a manner consistent with contract documents and in accordance with company guidelines. Lead, coordinate, originate and/or manage the development and negotiation of customer and subcontractor contracts during the project development process, including but not limited to master service agreements, EPC agreements, consulting services agreements, power purchase agreements, purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, teaming agreements, and memos of understanding. Effectively communicate with decision makers and customer representatives to develop positive relationships to secure new business opportunities, interface and coordinate with all project stakeholders. Promote business activity by coordinating, developing and presenting concepts and technical findings, at varying levels of the project development process. Assist in the development of marketing, sales and business plans for distributed generation technologies, in coordination with Sales, Marketing and Structuring teams for Distributed Generation. Support the promotion, education and communication of Brookfield energy products and services to developers, technology partners, customers and service providers. Stay current with evolving market conditions and competition strategies. Attend meetings, conferences, schools, and workshops to maintain and increase knowledge regarding best practices, engineering practices, and codes and regulations. Maintain a thorough knowledge and recognition of engineering and construction standards, specifications, applicable codes and ordinances, regulations and rules and service rules and policies. Develop and oversee processes, rules, and policies to ensure compliance with applicable Brookfield policies, standards and specifications. Travel, as required (valid drivers license at all times). Required Qualifications Undergraduate four-year degree in technical field (engineering, technology, sciences or mathematics), or equivalent work experience Minimum of 5 years of project development experience required in distributed generation market with solar or other renewable technology. Minimum of 3 years of experience developing and/or deploying storage assets. Strong client-focus with well-developed customer relations skills; customer-facing and ability to represent the organization in a professional manner Well experienced utilize MS tool such as Excel, Word, Power Point, etc Fundamental understanding of the technical, financial and contractual aspects of the Distributed Generation business Proven ability to work well through sales and development process in support of and/or leading project completion, transaction and closure. Excellent oral and written communications Ability to manage multiple tasks and strict timelines Excellent decision making, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills Proven ability to independently drive technical and commercial results in a team-oriented environment. Ability to write and comprehend technical contracts Ability to write presentations, proposals, and technical reports Ability to identify project viability from the perspective of technical scope, financial and legal Ability to develop subcontractor/vendor relationships and regional strategic partnerships for specific projects Well-developed written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical and team leadership skills Confidence and ability to work under pressure Excellent eye for detail, ambitious and a strong work ethic Team-oriented and ability to work with a diverse workforce Entrepreneurial spirit and mindset Preferred Qualifications Professional engineering certification Wholesale power market experience Advanced understanding of internal sales process for both government and private sector opportunities Knowledge of engineering and construction practices in retrofit / renovation interconnection applications obtained through demonstrated experience Additional qualifications in business or risk management About the company
