About the Position Perform specialized clerical and technical duties processing police records and reports; receive and process data in various database systems; research and review judicial and legal documents for accuracy and compliance with legal and security processes and procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Takes crime reports from the public by telephone or in person. Types or performs data entry of information of various kinds for files and records/ Operates various computer equipment to establish and maintain work system records. Processes subpoenas and other court related documents. Types reports. Transcribes machine dictated police reports; Searches databases for information needed by patrol or investigation personnel; Provides information to visitors and inquiring public according to established policy and procedure. Supports continuous process improvement initiatives. Receives visitors, calls and provides information requiring technical knowledge of department operations and procedures; receives and responds to inquiries requesting information and copies of reports. Maintains regular and consistent attendance at work. Performs related work as required. Required Education and Experience
Graduation from High School or GED, and minimum two years' experience in the performance of clerical and administrative duties or a related field or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations Required Licenses or Certifications
Valid Driver's License Must be able to obtain National crime Information Center (NCIC) within six months from date of hire Must successfully complete NCIC background check, polygraph examination and be fingerprinted upon acceptance of offer of employment
Work Schedule
Friday-Monday 10pm-8am (Days off Tues-Thurs)
Hourly Rate
The Police Records Technician is covered under the Police Bargaining Union, and all new hires begin employment at $23.77 per hour, regardless of years of experience. Shift Differential
