Overview
YoloArts strives to inspire a flourishing arts and cultural network in Yolo County by serving the community, individual artists, and arts organizations. The Education Coordinator focuses on programs and services that support Yolo County children and youth. This includes managing a robust artist in residency and field trip program. Also, the position is the Poetry Out Loud liaison with the California Arts Council and oversees the Open Studio program. Major Job Responsibilities Artist in Residency Program Management 35% Manage the Artist in Residency Program in partnership with schools and regional teaching artists. Connect schools with professional teaching artists and provide support in development, implementation, and review.
Field Trips and Public Tours 35%
Manage the K-12 Field Trip program and public tour requests at the Gibson House and property. Lead tours with the assistance of the Education Associates. Oversee program content and ensures its educational and curricular connections to National Core Arts Standards, and Barn Gallery and Gibson House exhibitions when applicable. Liaison with the Yolo County Historical Collection Museum Curator and YoloArts Artist Engagement Director when applicable. Oversee program content. Lead weekly open studio sessions with the assistance of the Education Associates.
POL 5%
Liaison with California Arts Council and provide necessary program information in alignment with grant requirements. Support program professional teaching artist in program outreach, implementation, and review.
Administration 10%
Track expenditures within board approved program budgets. Conduct outreach/marketing to support program goals through social media, organization website, and community events. Oversee scheduling of Education Associates, professional teaching artists and volunteers. Manage overall program scheduling, and facility and supply needs. Cultivate a community education advisory committee. Convening quarterly meetings to review program offerings and opportunities. Manage program files. Assist in the evaluation and documentation of programs. Contribute to fund development efforts as assigned. Builds and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with the local education community.
Skills and Experience
Successful completion of a two or four-year degree from an accredited college or university in education, art history, art studio or related field preferred One-two years of project coordination experience Two-three years of experience teaching or related experience with school age children preferred. Must pass TB test and background check A valid California driver's license and reliable transportation to travel throughout the county. Establish and maintain working relationships with many different people and organizations in Yolo County. Manage multiple priorities in a highly organized and professional manner. Communicate tactfully, effectively, and accurately both orally and in writing. Work independently and resourcefully to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Work collaboratively and as a member of a team. Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Apple applications, Google Suite, ZOOM, Facebook, and Instagram. Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand and walk for long periods of time, and use hands and arms to reach, handle and feel.
