Job Description
We are currently hiring an Environmental Project Manager in our Environmental Division in Virginia. The Environmental Division at LaBella provides a full range of environmental due diligence services, from initial assessment to remediation. The Environmental Project Manager must have experience with wetland/stream delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat surveys, Section 404/401 Permitting, and stormwater compliance inspections. This position requires both office and field work; the successful candidate should expect to be out in the field up to 25% of the time. Responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, report writing, and client communication. The successful candidate will manage a variety of projects, including private land development and public sector jobs, while communicating field study results and next steps to clients. Duties
Work directly with the Southeast Regional Environmental Manager on workload, capacity, and service growth. Attend divisional project manager meetings and collaborate with divisional leadership. Review technical reports, prepare proposals, and lead proposal teams for projects involving wetland/stream delineations, Section 401/404 permits, threatened and endangered species habitat surveys, NEPA level studies, and stormwater compliance inspections. Conduct field studies (e.g., wetland delineation, habitat surveys, stormwater inspections) independently or with junior staff. Manage projects, including tracking budgets, client interaction, staff scheduling, reviewing deliverables, and liaising with agency representatives. Maintain and nurture existing client relationships. Build and encourage technical expertise within the team. Requirements
B.S. degree in environmental science, biology, geology, or engineering. 7-10+ years of experience in environmental consulting related to wetland/stream delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat surveys, Section 404/401 Permitting, NEPA studies, and stormwater inspections. Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Professional Wetland Delineator (PWD), or VDEQ Dual Inspector certification is a plus. Additional experience in environmental due diligence services such as Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments or Brownfields Redevelopment is advantageous but not required. Experience leading and mentoring junior staff. Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Highly motivated with excellent client service skills. Strong project management skills, including scope, budget, schedule, and client interaction. Excellent technical report writing skills. Organized multi-tasker capable of meeting deadlines. Strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to oversee staff and ensure project work is accurate and within budget. Experience with client and regulatory correspondence. Benefits
