PURPOSE OF THE JOBThe Physical Properties Technical Insulation Testing Lead delivers results across the business by working in close collaboration with the BI, MW, and Thermal Testing Leads. In addition, the role is responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and NVLAP 17025, while also establishing that the laboratory spaces are properly equipped to support the testing needs of the current and future state of Insulation R&D. Reports to: Insulation Labs Core Testing LeaderSpan of Control: Individual Contributor - Owns all Technical Insulation testing in the Physical Properties Lab located at the Granville Science & Technology Center and supports Physical Properties testing as needed. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Living Safely Actively participates in monthly safety meetingsEnsures rigorous compliance to safety procedures and OC corporate policiesFocuses on sustaining a safe work environment for self, team, and coworkersMaintain clean working space which includes the use of a fork truck, pallet jack and cartsDevelop Testing Standards, Prioritization, and Expertise Partner with testing personnel and product teams to ensure proper training and documentation is maintained for all applicable methods.Protects OC Intellectual Property through documentation of procedures including new test methods and ensuring communication with non-OC contacts is covered under NDA when applicable.Play an active role in supporting the business prioritizationBe the expert in all Technical Insulation testingLead all test requests pertaining to Technical Insulation including duct board, duct wrap, ceiling board, FDM, MBI and other materials as necessaryMaintain all training records are currentStay current with ASTM methodsLead and delegate testing to contractors for all Technical Insulation test request Maintain Lab ExcellenceManages day to day testing lab requirements to support the businessPartners with technical, manufacturing, and business partners to understand, identify and execute on testing required to support business priorities and needsIdentifies opportunities to improve/develop test methods for safety, data requested, or test method improvementsFacilitates and coordinates partnerships with various stakeholders to identifies new capabilities and requirements for growth of lab capabilities and test methodsManage overall laboratory operations to ensure accurate, timely data for product qualityEnsure that NVLAP, ISO, and quality for the labs are established, maintained, and reported on regularlyIdentify opportunities to drive innovation in the laboratory space through changing technologies and new developments in the building materials industry. Be diligent about material flow through the lab to avoid delays in testing and maintain cleanliness of the lab space JOB REQUIREMENTSMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:2+ years of experience working in a R&D laboratory environmentHighschool diploma or equivalent requiredUnderstand and have good basic computer skills.
