Overview

The Development and Community Engagement Director will lead all aspects of fundraising and donor engagement while deepening the connection between our community theater and the public. This role focuses on building meaningful relationships with local groups, civic organizations, donors, patrons, schools, and businesses to enhance visibility, broaden participation, and cultivate partnerships that support the theaters mission. To enhance these efforts, this individual will develop and manage the organizations digital presence across its website and social media platforms. This role combines relationship building with technical and strategic development as well as marketing, ensuring that the organizations mission and brand is effectively supported both financially and digitally to optimize its impact in the community. Greasepaint is a small, nimble organization led by an Artistic Director who oversees a team of contracted professionals. The Artistic Director and the Development and Community Engagement Director will work collaboratively to manage all functional areas for the organization, as well as lead the implementation of Greasepaints strategic plan. Compensation & Terms

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt Salary Range: $65,000-$80,000 annually, DOE Application Deadline: Monday, September 15, 2025 Reporting To: Chair of the Board of Directors Responsibilities Fundraising & Donor Relations Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including individual and corporate giving, grants, sponsorships, and special events. Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors, ensuring personalized and meaningful engagement. Evaluate/develop/manage an annual ticket sales program working closely with the Artistic Director on feasibility and structure. Research, write and apply for grants, consulting with the Artistic Director on vision and programmatic elements. Track all grant applications. Explore donor management platforms (with patron ticketing overlays) and ultimately on-board a chosen tool to track giving patterns and opportunities. Generate reports on fundraising performance and revenue projections, including a monthly report to the Board of Directors incorporating fundraising goals and objectives.

Community Engagement

Work with the Artistic Director to develop and implement community outreach programs that engage diverse audiences. Foster and maintain partnerships with civic groups, arts organizations, local schools and businesses Represent the theater at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities. Coordinate community initiatives and projects. Collaborate with the Artistic Director to align engagement strategies with programming and performances. Track and report on engagement metrics and partnership outcomes.

Digital Strategy & Technology Development

Oversee the management of the organizations website in collaboration with internal teams and/or external vendors, ensuring timely updates to content, event information, and donation pages to support fundraising and donor engagement. Lead the strategy and execution of social media across all platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter/X), growing engagement and brand reach. Monitor digital analytics and adjust strategies to increase traffic, donor conversions, and online visibility. Ensure all digital content reflects and reinforces the organizations voice, mission, brand, and fundraising goals.

Collaboration & Leadership

Work closely with the Artistic Director and the marketing and fundraising committees to support organizational development and ensure cohesion in all activities supporting the organizations strategic plan. Supervise part-time contractors, interns, or freelance staff if applicable for areas of responsibility

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in development, fundraising, or nonprofit management. Leadership experience in non-profit or small business environment. Highly organized, strategic-thinking, self-starter who excels when managing multiple priorities. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Passion for the arts and community development. Demonstrated success in donor cultivation and grant writing. Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team. Proficiency with donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect, Bloomerang). Strong technical skills related to website content management (e.g., WordPress), email marketing (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact), and social media. Preferred: Knowledge of the local community and existing networks in fundraising, arts, education, or civic sectors.
