Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled
IP Patent Lawyer
with experience in the
technology, telecom, and AI sectors
to join our growing legal talent network. This role is ideal for a patent professional with a strong background in
prosecution, licensing, portfolio strategy , and increasing demand in areas such as
Standard Essential Patents (SEP)
and
FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) licensing .
Responsibilities: Provide strategic counsel on
patent prosecution ,
freedom-to-operate (FTO)
analyses, and
IP portfolio development
in AI, software, telecom, and semiconductor sectors. Advise on
SEP-related strategy
and
FRAND licensing , including risk assessment and negotiation of licensing terms. Draft, review, and negotiate
IP-related agreements , including licensing, collaboration, open-source, and tech transfer deals. Conduct and support
IP due diligence
for M&A transactions, including
patent landscape
reviews and competitive analysis. Collaborate with R&D, engineering, and commercial teams to align
IP protection with innovation roadmaps
and commercialization strategy. Monitor global patent filings, maintain portfolios, and track developments across relevant
standards-setting organizations (SSOs) . Minimum Qualifications:
JD or equivalent with
active U.S. bar membership
in good standing. 3-8 years of experience
in
patent law , with a focus on
tech, telecom, software, or semiconductors . USPTO registration required . Background in
electrical engineering, computer science, or related technical field
strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience in
IP licensing, cross-border patent strategy , and SEP/FRAND frameworks. Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. Must be able to work independently in a
remote or hybrid setting . Preferred Skills:
Prior
in-house experience
in
technology, telecom, or semiconductor
companies. Experience managing or advising on
SEP declarations, FRAND commitments, and SSO engagement . Familiarity with
5G/6G, IoT, AI, or wireless communications IP landscapes . Prior engagement in
patent pools , licensing campaigns, or royalty negotiations is a strong plus. California or Texas-based candidates preferred
due to client geography, though remote flexibility is available.
Compensation, Benefits & Location:
This role offers a range of competitive compensation starting at $127,000, and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401k, and more. Axiomites predominately work remotely, with the exception that some clients require on-site presence.
