The Impact You'll Make in this Role: As a Toxicologist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Conducting and communicating human health risk assessments on a broad range of 3M products, taking into consideration identified hazards and exposure according to the intended product use. This includes assessing scientific literature, evaluating the toxicological database, determining appropriate toxicological and other safety endpoints, conducting exposure assessments, and providing written documentation. Authoring chemical hazard summaries for inclusion in 3M databases, advocating for alternative chemical selection where possible, and supporting chemicals management. Recommending and coordinating appropriate toxicology study placements with the internal 3M Strategic Toxicology Laboratory as well as with third-party contract research organizations. Serving as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and collaborating with project teams to support 3M's business priorities. Demonstrating a personal commitment to maintaining and enhancing technical and professional skills. Your Skills and Expertise: To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Master's degree or higher in toxicology, pharmacology, biomedical (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university Three (3) years of experience related to the conduct/design of in vitro or in vivo toxicology studies, human health risk assessment, or product safety support in a private, public, government environment. Three (3) of experience working with the OECD QSAR Toolbox and other in silico tools for hazard prediction, read across justification, and chemical categorization. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: PhD, MD, or DVM with 1+ years of experience. Board certification (DABT) is preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills with demonstrated proficiency working effectively with technical staff from diverse backgrounds. Must be an effective communicator to technical and non-technical audiences in oral and written correspondences as well as presentation formats. Work location: On-site (3M Center, St. Paul, MN)
