The I&C hardware Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team and is responsible for designing and implementing I&C electronic hardware and software for Nuclear Power Plants. The team interfaces with electronic software design and plant system operations. This role requires technical problem solving, strong hardware design skills, and effective communication and collaboration with other teams within GEH. Roles and Responsibilities
Develop innovative solutions and reduce complexity for complex engineering problems. Create designs from requirements and assist in defining requirements. Design activities include schematic design, component selection, PCB layout, FPGA/PLD design, simulation, code reviews, and integration testing. Document designs through specifications, code reviews, and test reports. Engage with customers to define scope, review results, and discuss risks. Work with technical leaders to establish work plans, schedules, and requirements. Apply engineering fundamentals to confirm expected performance. Provide analysis documentation following GE procedures. Manage time effectively to meet project timelines and communicate status. Develop verification and validation test requirements and lead testing efforts. Interface with designers to validate outputs and generate test documentation. Prepare manual and automated test procedures for components and systems. Ensure compliance with GEH and industry processes, participate in reviews, and promote improvements. Support documentation and resolution of quality issues related to control systems. Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, or software engineering, or an Associate's Degree with 5+ years of experience. Minimum 5 years of experience in electronic circuit board creation and FPGA design. Eligibility
Preferred location: Wilmington, NC; remote candidates within 200 miles considered. Monthly travel to Wilmington, NC required. Desired Qualifications
Experience with PCB design, signal analysis, system verification tools (Altium, PSpice, SystemVerilog, UVM). Knowledge of HDL languages and FPGA development tools (Quartus, Vivado, etc.). Experience in schematic design, PCB layout, verification, and validation. Leadership experience and strong communication skills. Proactive learning and problem-solving abilities.
