Location: 5781 Van Allen Way, Carlsbad, California 92008 Work Schedule: Standard (Mon-Fri) Environmental Conditions: Office Job Description: Design, develop and implement the manufacturing transfer of highly technical plastic components, assemblies, and finished products. Utilize product and application knowledge across the Biosciences portfolio to successfully apply consultative and strategic experimental design regarding plastics innovation and development. Serve as core team engineering lead for stand-alone plastics products. Serve as core team member on complex, multidisciplinary project with specific responsibility for design and development of plastics and consumables. Support operations and quality teams addressing process improvement activities, quality issues, customer complaints, and value engineering initiatives spanning both internal and external manufacturing sites around the globe. Design support for Programs with plastics peripherals. Execute design excellence for sustainable, quality and cost effective new product Introductions. Serve as a division wide subject matter expert and product owner for all plastics Travel: Up to 10% percent domestic or international travel required. Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field of study. 5 years of experience as a Staff Engineer, Systems Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or related experience. Alternative Education and Experience Requirement: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field of study plus 3 years of experience as a Staff Engineer, Systems Design Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or related experience. Required knowledge or experience with: Plastics engineering, injection molding processes, and material properties; Medical Device Development, including complex medical consumables and managing manufacturing suppliers; SolidWorks 3D Product Design, Unigraphics 3D Mold Design, Moldflow Analysis for Plastic Parts and exposure to AutoCAD; Supplier management and professional negotiation skills; Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, including Agile PLM and OCPLM; Practical Process Improvement (PPI) system; Plastic joining technologies, including ultrasonic welding; Image measurement systems; Development of consumable products within the life sciences domain. Salary: $138,237.00 to $159,066.00. Compensation and Benefits: The salary pay range estimated for this position Staff Engineer, Systems Design based in California is $138,237.00$159,066.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
