Database Administrator
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced
Database Administrator (DBA)
to join their technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of their relational and logical databases, including design, testing, implementation, and maintenance. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the performance, security, and integrity of their data infrastructure across multiple platforms. This position requires a proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of internal teams. Key Responsibilities
Database Management:
Design, test, implement, and maintain logical and relational databases across various environments, including distributed systems and client/server platforms. Performance and Capacity:
Monitor database performance to ensure adherence to standards. Perform capacity planning and management, and make recommendations for optimization. Development Support:
Collaborate with internal and commercial product developers to design and support efficient database solutions, ensuring appropriate use of their infrastructure. Security and Integrity:
Assist in the establishment and enforcement of security policies and procedures, managing access, and maintaining data integrity. Backup and Recovery:
Support all backup and recovery processes for database and application data, conducting regular restore tests to ensure readiness. System Maintenance:
Install and upgrade databases and applications, manage the patch installation process, and ensure all software versions are current and align with vendor support plans. Client Support:
Provide expert assistance to internal and external clients, addressing issues and offering consultative solutions related to database capabilities and problems. Troubleshooting:
Act as a key point of contact for technical issues, following established escalation paths to ensure rapid problem resolution. Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to the delivery of safety, quality, and efficiency objectives. Job Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience. Industry certifications are a strong plus. 6-8 years of extensive experience installing and supporting PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and other open-source database solutions. Detailed knowledge of hardware and software issues on Linux/Unix and Microsoft servers. Proven experience working with commercial and internal developers on database deployment and support. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical staff, clients, and vendors. Strong problem-solving, planning, and project management abilities. Ability to be a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a sense of urgency. Willingness to carry a mobile device, work overtime, and provide off-hours support as required. Ability to work in a global presence and travel to company locations as needed.
