THE ROLE

The Instructional Coach at Heartwood Community School serves as a dual-role leader, supporting teacher development while also providing direct small-group instruction to students. With expertise in either literacy or mathematics, the coach drives instructional excellence across the school, ensuring that all studentswhether in need of targeted intervention or advanced enrichmentare challenged, supported, and growing. Reporting directly to the Director of Academics, the Instructional Coach is a key driver of instructional strategy and academic achievement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Coaching and Collaboration

Provide job-embedded coaching and feedback to teachers on best practices, data analysis, differentiation, and lesson planning. Lead model lessons, co-teaching, and classroom observations to build teacher capacity and confidence. Collaborate with the Director of Academics and the instructional leadership team to align coaching with school-wide priorities. Facilitate professional development sessions and data meetings with grade-level teams. Support teachers in implementing high-quality, standards-aligned instructional materials. Student-Focused Instructional Support

Deliver small-group lessons for students requiring either targeted intervention or academic extensions. Use multiple forms of data, including formative and diagnostic assessments, to identify students for intervention and enrichment. Design and implement individualized learning plans for students needing academic support or accelerated learning. Monitor student achievement and adjust instruction as necessary. Data-Driven Planning and Continuous Improvement

Maintain clear, accurate records of student progress and instructional impact. Partner with teachers and school leaders to analyze student achievement data. Identify instructional trends and propose strategies for improvement. Support the development of a culture of high expectations and academic excellence. SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS

Certified educator with at least 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience in literacy or mathematics. Experience working with diverse student populations and strong knowledge of differentiated instruction. Deep commitment to Heartwoods mission and whole-child philosophy. Strong coaching and leadership skills with the ability to build trust and empower others. A reflective practitioner who values feedback and continuous growth. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Passion for equity and the belief that every child can achieve at high levels.

COMPENSATION

The salary for this position is $80,000, with eligibility for a relocation package. To uphold its commitment to equitable and fair compensation, Heartwood Community School offers a competitive salary and follows a no-negotiation policy.
