The CAD Programmer takes customer generated geometry or drawings and saves them into the correct file format using CAD software. Utilizes nesting software to generate programs for CNC equipment. Troubleshoots specific applications as needed. This position reports to the Operations Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Use CAD software and CNC manufacturer's programming software
Interpret third and first angle orthographic projection, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and customer drawings and specifications, using CAD software create engineering drawings
Coordinate all production and technical communications between customers, sales, and production
Import files created with CAD software into the nesting software and generate NC files for the CNC equipment. Identify specific applications that may need to be used (laser, oxyfuel, plasma, punching etc)
Nest parts as required on sheets or blanks to maximize material utilization and production efficiency
Program and document revisions as required
Assist with design of tooling and fixtures
Maintain a thorough understanding of the equipment used for processing
Provide input on efficiency improvements and cost versus benefit analysis of new tooling/ applications considerations
Maintain tooling / cutting parameter inventory list
Maintain program files on computer and files of set up sheets
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
2+ years practical CAD programming experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Two-year technical Degree in Computer programming or Computer Aided design, or equivalent experience
