Job Overview
Clinical laboratory personnel, as members of the health care delivery team, are responsible for assuring reliable and accurate laboratory test results, which contribute to the diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and prevention of physiological and pathological conditions in humans. Quality clinical laboratory testing is evidenced by performing the correct test, on the right person, at the right time, producing accurate test results, with the best outcome, in the most cost-effective manner. Responsibilities Performs all testing as per standard operating procedures Performs bench work for CBC/Diff, COAG, UA and Cell Counts Maintains desired turn-around times Acts as a resource for technical questions and problem resolution Troubleshoots problem specimens and interacts with medical staff and hospital staff as necessary Assists in training and orienting new lab employees, hospital employees and students Quality Control is performed and documented as scheduled with immediate corrective action as needed Performs proficiency testing and documents it accurately Ensures integrity of IT systems and uses IS to manage results and QC data Ensures instruments are calibrated and QC completed prior to analysis Initiates corrective action when performance is unacceptable Troubleshoots testing issues and communicates problems to the supervisor Provides oversight in the absence of the supervisor and demonstrates leadership Maintains professionalism under stress and accepts constructive feedback Promotes excellence within the section and develops staff
Qualifications Required:
BA/BS Degree in Medical Technology and/or related science 2 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience
Preferred:
National Certification
