Temporary Staff Accountant

Wood Personnel has partnered with a Nashville-based organization to hire a temporary staff accountant. This role requires a fully qualified accounting professional with a degree and proven experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end close. The staff accountant will work directly with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with GAAP and provide critical support for accurate, timely financial reporting. This position offers the opportunity to join a small, collaborative accounting team where your expertise will make an immediate impact. Staff Accountant Compensation and Benefits: $33 - $35 an hour Strictly temporary role Insurance options available through Wood Personnel Staff Accountant Key Responsibilities: Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting Prepare, review, and post entries to the general ledger in compliance with GAAP Maintain and update the fixed asset ledger, including capitalization, disposals, and depreciation Perform monthly reconciliations for general ledger and multiple bank accounts Prepare audit schedules and support the annual audit process Compile, analyze, and update quarterly and ad hoc financial reports for management Conduct account analysis and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies Collaborate with internal staff to resolve accounting issues and improve processes Utilize advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) to support data analysis and reporting Contribute to accounting process improvements and special projects as directed by management Staff Accountant Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting required 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting procedures Proficiency in general ledger systems; experience with fixed assets and audit preparation preferred Advanced Excel and data analysis skills required Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently while thriving in a small team environment
