Your Role on the Team

Position Summary

The incumbent is responsible for receiving and processing requests for release of patient information from various requestors. Duties include: providing information in accordance with department policies and procedures and within state and federal statutes, abstracting information from patient records and using various computer systems to enter and view information. Responds to phone inquiries and questions from requestors. Assists with reception coverage as required.

Required Qualifications

Proficiency with electronic medical record systems record storage and retrieval. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and keyboarding skills Medical Terminology and documentation identification Medical Record Documentation requirements for a complete medical record Knowledge of HIPAA, California Medical Information Act (CMLA), Lanterman-Petris-Short Act governing disclosure of mental health record and all legal regulations applicable to disclosure of alcohol and drug /substance abuse records, genetic testing, HIV, abortion, contraception, and gender-affirming records, worker compensation and processing of records pursuant to a subpoena and court order. Excellent organizational skills Commitment to continuous learning due to evolving laws. Attention to detail Ability to work independently and within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous EPIC Electronic Health System experience Familiarity with Medicares Local and National Coverage Medical Necessity Documentation Requirements RHIT or CHP Credential. AHIMA ROI Microcredential certification with 3 years experience in an acute care hospital setting performing the release of information functio
