Military Technician Position

This is a Military Technician position with the 81st Readiness Division, Reserve Personnel Advisory Center Jackson HUB SC012 located in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. This position requires an active membership as a Soldier in the Army Reserve before a start date can be set. Responsibilities include processing, auditing and editing complex pay actions, reviewing military pay transactions and reports to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, training others on the use of automated systems, providing technical expertise to supported Soldiers, researching and analyzing a variety of information sources for personnel requirements, establishing and maintaining files pertaining to personnel, finance and administrative activities, providing responses to complex pay complaints and issues, and developing statistical material and reports. Qualifications include one year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical or administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence; filing and data entry; processing a variety of personnel or pay actions; and interpreting and applying regulatory or procedural requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Fundamentals and Operations of Military and Civilian Pay, Oral Communication, Personnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping, and Written Communication. Time in grade requirement: applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Additional Information: Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
