Job Summary:
The Supervisor will direct and coordinate all activities in processing materials and manufacturing products. They will work to develop, optimize, coordinate and execute all production related operations by performing the following duties either personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Develops an effective and efficient work force by organizing and allocating team members based on production demands
•Participates, optimizes and directs the setup of work stations
•Oversees the effective and efficient start-up of all jobs
•Develops, implements and maintains a training program for new team members to ensure routine quality and ensure that necessary expertise is available. This includes the necessity of cross-training for multiple jobs
•Ensures all Team Leaders and Team Members are adequately trained in production techniques
•Works closely with Production Planning Team to create or obtain production plans
•Works closely with Production Team Leaders to ensure proper training and availability of necessary skills and abilities in team members
•Reviews production schedules, current orders and material availability to plan department operations with end goal of maintaining sufficient stock to fill current and future orders
•Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products
•Analyzes and addresses operation needs
•Monitors daily production and quality standards - takes corrective action when necessary
•Compiles, stores and retrieves production data. Presents reports on this data when directed by the Operations Manager (Plant Manager)
•Inspects machines and equipment to ensure operational performance, optimum utilization and any safety hazards
•Resolves manufacturing and maintenance issues (working with Maintenance Department) to ensure minimum costs, efficient production and prevent operational delays
•Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of a preventative maintenance system. Makes improvement recommendations as appropriate
•Expedites production as needed. Will investigate compliance with production schedule, and report any deviations to Production Planning Team and the Operations Manager
•Maintains safe, clean and orderly environment complying with all Vandor/Starmark regulations and all local, state and federal laws and guidelines
•Ensures that all team members adhere to safety regulations
•Consistently monitors or revises standard operational practices for best results. Observes workers to ensure compliance with these practices
•Establishes and fosters the development of a team culture. Establishes weekly Team Leader meetings in which critical agenda items are discussed and resolved
•Resolves worker grievances, or submits unsettled grievances to the Operations Manager and/or Human Resources
•Ensure that team members under his/her supervision complies with all company employment guidelines as stated in the Employee Handbook
•Directs and supports adherence to other policies, procedures, work instructions and record keeping
•Strives for continuous improvement in all aspects of production, specifically quality assurance and cost control. Works with all relevant employees and resources to achieve this improvement
•Works to ensure that labor standards in Bill of Materials are accurate and are periodically audited. Measures actual performance against standards
•Directly supervises Team Leaders

Qualifications:

•Must have and be willing to maintain the technological competence to continually develop and maintain a world class manufacturing operation
•Must have computer skills

•Must possess analytical and specific problem-solving skills
•Must have experience working in production related fields
•Must be trained and certified to operate a forklift
•Must have a clean driving record and hold a valid U.S. Driver's license
•Willing to invest the time, resources and effort necessary to support the needs of the operation and aid in the strategic objective of being a world-class manufacturing facility
•Must be willing to effectively work within established guidelines and chain of command within the organization
•Language skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills a must. There is a particular emphasis on training skills
•Reasoning ability: Must be able to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, select, implement and defend the best alternative and be able to communicate the reasoning behind such thought processes
Education & Experience:
•High school diploma or GED WITH additional relevant formal education or experience required
•3-5 years of experience in manufacturing management is required
•Additional manufacturing experience preferred
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
