Who We Are

Founded in 1946, Kingswood Community Center, Inc. (KCC) sits in the heart of the Riverside Community located in Northeast Wilmington. KCC's mission is to enable people in Northeast Wilmington and surrounding communities to achieve their potential for economic, social, and personal well-being. KCC offers programs for the youngest and oldest alike, as it includes an early learning center for 12 months to 5 years of age, before and aftercare, after school programming for school age youth, and a senior center for the elders in the community. What Youll

Do

The Montessori Education Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, and monitoring of high-quality Montessori programming at KCCs Early Learning Academy (ELA). This role will be pivotal in guiding staff through the ELAs transition from a traditional classroom to a Montessori environment and working with staff who are new to the Montessori model. The Montessori Education Coordinator provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to ELA staff, working to implement curricula and create an educational environment aligned with Montessori philosophy. The Montessori Education Coordinator will work in partnership with the University of Delaware Montessori Teachers Academy (UDMTA) to support teachers in training.

Program Development & Implementation

Develop and lead new and expanded programs in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Devise strategies to ensure growth of early learning programs and initiatives, identifying and implementing process improvements that will maximize output while maintaining quality. Ensure the implementation of high-quality age-appropriate Montessori curriculum plans and activities, following national best practices and standards. Prepare weekly lesson plans and assist teachers in preparing lessons across the Montessori curriculum including areas of math, language (oral, reading, writing), cultural (social sciences, sciences, arts), sensorial development, and practical life. Build and maintain consistency, coherence, and continuity within the pre-k (ages 3-5) program and with the infant/toddler classrooms. Assist with program evaluation and assessment processes (including the Developmental Environmental Rating Scale) to include program delivery, customer service, and effectiveness and progress toward program objectives. Network with businesses, schools and government offices to identify resources and develop partnerships to strengthen service delivery, to develop programs, and address community needs.

Instructional Coaching

Work collaboratively with teachers and the Head of School to develop and implement a Professional Development Plan for each staff member, setting short-term and long-term goals. Attend the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sectors coaching workshops. Provide ongoing instructional coaching and feedback to teachers and assistants, consistent with the UDMTR program requirements, Professional Development Plan, job descriptions, and national best practices. Implement regular classroom observations. Plan and implement professional development workshops for teachers and staff.

Classroom Environment & Instruction

Lead inventory review for classrooms to ensure that the ELA meets the required standards for a Montessori learning environment. Model appropriate guidance strategies to help children learn socially acceptable behavior, self-regulation skills, and how to express emotions in a constructive manner. Serve as a role model to participants and staff in your attitude and behavior. Ensure that teachers maintain a clean, safe, peaceful, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, including the organization of space, storage of supplies and materials, and sanitation of equipment.

Child Growth & Development

Assist with the oversight of developmentally appropriate and ongoing assessments of student progress. Work with parents, families, and teachers to set goals for each child. Support teachers to monitor childrens progress towards goals and communicate with parents, families, and staff. Work with the Head of School to develop a collaborative approach that benefits all children and meets needs specified on the Individualized Learning Program (IEP) and/or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). Assist with parent/guardian engagement and family services.

Data Management & Reporting

Oversee internal and external program reporting, including timely submission of reports, collection and organization of supporting documentation (i.e. participant files, internal reports), and the compilation of monthly goals & metrics for the organization. Maintain compliance with agency policies and standards, legislative regulations (e.g. Licensing, accidents, incidents) and compliance with contractual requirements. Maintain complete and accurate required family/child files, forms, and records within required timelines to document and track children. Practice continuous learning through individual study, classroom training, accredited early childhood development courses, seminars, and conferences.

What Were Looking For

Education & Experience

Bachelors degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field. Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) credential required; Early Childhood preferred. 3-5 years of experience as a Montessori teacher at the early childhood or elementary level.

Certification Requirements

First Aid/CPR preferred; must be certified within first 30 days of hire. Certification through Delaware First as an Intern or Assistant Teacher preferred; must be certified within first 60 days of hire.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

First Aid/CPR preferred; must be certified within first 30 days of hire. Certification through DEEDS as an Early Childhood Teacher, Curriculum Coordinator, or Administrator preferred; must be certified within 60 days of hire.

Conditions of Hire

A satisfactory criminal background and reference check, a valid drivers license, and an acceptable driving record, state fingerprinting, child abuse/neglect registry check, and sex offender registry check required at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Work Environment And Requirements

Schedule: Full-time, primarily MondayFriday, 8:30 a.m.5:00 p.m., with occasional after-hours or weekend work. Travel: Primarily local during the business day, with some out-of-area or overnight travel as needed. Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, use technology, and move about to facilitate workshops or meetings.
