Wondering what a day in the life of a
Medical Secretary
at The Iowa Clinic might look like? Arrive at work in the morning - no night shifts here! Perform secretarial tasks for management or assigned physicians, including correspondence preparation. Coordinate with the Billing team for accurate and timely completion of Prior Authorization processes. Manage Qgenda calendar with updates on physicians' schedules and surgery cases. Transcribes medical information for patient files and prepares charts and reminder cards for outreach clinics. Schedule and coordinate clinic appointments, testing, and surgeries as requested by physicians. Obtain necessary pre-certifications, labs, and tests for surgeries. Exemplify patient customer service through phone calls, including patient scheduling, messages, and triaging calls to appropriate individuals. Demonstrate effective communication, both written and verbal, while promoting a positive, professional image of The Iowa Clinic, and maintain relationships with clinic personnel while maintaining confidentiality. Leave in the evening - hooray for working standard clinic hours! This role will support Vascular Surgery from 8:00-4:30 at our West Des Moines location, with coverage as needed Downtown.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical administrative assistant certification preferred. A desire to find a meaningful, fulfilling career in a fast-paced environment Effective organization and communication skills (written and verbal) with attention to detail. A positive and team-oriented attitude Ability to effectively operate multiple computer systems, phone lines, transcription, calculator, fax, and photocopy equipment. Previous Medical Office experience preferred Exposure to different types of insurance programs and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred. Bonus points if...
