Salary:

The expected compensation for this position is $27,000-$32,000 annually. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

The Instructional Assistant is the perfect opportunity for those who are looking at becoming a certified teacher. The Instructional Assistant is with one classroom of students and works with the General Education Teacher to foster a culture of learning

We are looking for a student-centered, dynamic Instructional Assistant who will: Provide support to our teachers and staff members by fostering a culture of academic rigor and achievement Work with teachers to address individual learning needs of students Plan and provide the Social Emotional Curriculum to the classroom Deliver instruction planned by general education teacher including providing small group instruction Keep students on task by engaging them in the lesson Complete documentation for RTI under the supervision of the general education teacher Provide Academic Intervention Support (AIS) under direction of general education teacher Assist in classroom set-up and logistics - prepping student materials or manipulatives, classroom beautification and maintenance, etc. Provide lunch supervision Support in student behavioral management and de-escalating challenging student behaviors Ensure the safety of students at all times Supervise students in and out of classroom as needed - this may include but is not limited to - moving students to proper locations during fire drills, lunch and recess duty, enrichment activities/classes, etc. Provide an inviting, exciting, stimulating, and innovative learning environment Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning by following the Responsive Classroom and Cooperative Discipline models Enable students to develop social responsibility by faithfully following the Responsive Classroom and Cooperative Discipline models Additional responsibilities to meet the needs of our students What We Look For

Qualifications

Ability to build strong relationships with children and engaging them in lessons Ability to pass a NYS Education Department background check Excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and on a team Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with students preferably in a classroom setting New York State Elementary Teaching Certificate or NYS Certification as an Instructional Assistant Bachelor's Degree
