Insurance Specialist

to join our team at

Texas Oncology . This full-time position supports the Radiation/Radiology Department at our Richardson, Texas location. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the U.S., delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients close to home. Our mission is to make cancer care accessible and effective, utilizing advanced technology and research. We treat approximately half of all Texans diagnosed with cancer annually. The US Oncology Network, supported by McKesson Corporation, is dedicated to advancing cancer care through a network of community-based physicians. Responsibilities Monitor delinquent accounts and perform collections. Review reports, research, and resolve issues. Verify payment postings for accuracy and update account balances. Resolve insurance payment and billing errors with team members. Update delinquent account statuses and recommend accounts for collection or write-off. Contact patients to secure past due balances, verify demographics and insurance, and document conversations. Answer patient questions regarding payments, billing, and insurance; resolve complaints. Refer patients to Patient Benefits Representatives for payment plans if needed. Maintain credit balances and ensure timely refunds according to regulations. Adhere to confidentiality and legal guidelines regarding patient records. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Level 1: High School diploma or equivalent. At least 2 years of medical billing and payment experience. Knowledge of claims processing and collections guidelines. Level 2 (additional): At least 4 years of medical billing/payment experience. Knowledge of medical coding, preferably oncology coding. Senior Level (additional): Associate degree or 4 years revenue cycle experience. 2+ years insurance resolution experience. Proficiency in computer systems and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of oncology coding and claims processing. Competencies Technical knowledge and industry awareness. Adaptability and resilience. Physical Demands Regular sitting, use of hands, occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Vision and hearing must be within normal ranges. Work Environment Office setting with frequent patient contact. Exposure to blood, toxins, and radiation in a clinical environment.
