About this Job

The Louisiana Special School District (LSSD) is an education service agency that provides services to the Louisiana Special Schools (Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, and Special School Programs). The schools provide educational opportunities to students with low-incidence disabilities and a variety of unique needs.

Join our dedicated Operations team as a Carpenter Master, ensuring that school buildings, classrooms, and district facilities are maintained, safe, and functional. You’ll play a leading role in managing critical carpentry projects—ranging from routine repairs to new installations—while working alongside district staff and external contractors.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:

Three years of experience or training in the carpentry trade.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Perform complex and detailed carpentry work on buildings and other structures.

Install floor tile, ceiling tiles, and suspended ceilings.

Installs and repairs door locks and closures.

Repairs and installs doors/door units.

Estimates materials needed for repairs and projects.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational or Promotional

Work Schedule : Typically, work hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexible work schedules may be available after meeting certain criteria and are dependent upon the position for which you are applying.
