Teammates in this role typically make around $78K a year. Basic Job Functions: Nucor Skyline is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Manual Machinist. The Manual Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating mills, CNC lathes, and other hand-operated machine tools based on the specifications stated in the blueprints and work instructions. Plan and organize daily workload to accommodate production schedule. Safely operate equipment. Set up and operate various manual machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses, to fabricate parts. Review specification to determine setup procedures, dimensions, and machining sequences required to manufacture parts. Observe machine operations to detect malfunctions or questionable conditions. Perform detailed inspection of manufactured parts to ensure conformance to specifications while striving to maintain production goals in terms of cycle time, quantity, and quality. Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: Two to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Two to three years of experience operating machinery in an industrial environment Experience operating mills and lathes Experience reading and interpreting blueprints Preferences: Experience in the steel industry Experience being on a safety committee
