Job Description: The PMTC department of the organisation is responsible for the quality assembly of metal and glass parts. This department utilizes parts manufactured in the machine shop or purchased from external vendors to construct state-of-the-art devices that keep the organization on the cutting edge. This area requires fine motor skills, excellent vision with and without aids, hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow printed and verbal instructions. The Hermetics department manufactures multiple small parts that are components in other, larger parts built in this area and will assemble products using hand tools, such as tweezers and hammers. Certain products require the use of a finger-operated press to press parts onto other parts. Once the final products are built, they are electronically tested for functionality before the product leaves the area. Staff must work to protect the parts from damage and protect themselves and this requires the use of gloves, finger cots, and/or safety glasses while working. Chemicals are used in the area, and proper PPE must be worn when working with chemicals (including gloves, aprons, and safety goggles). Hermetic builds need to be heated for extended periods of time; therefore area is equipped with multiple hydrogen furnaces/ovens that require heat-resistant gloves when removing parts to keep everyone safe. Requirements: Ability to inspect for cosmetic defects with and without a microscope. Ability to read and follow written protocols or schematics. Use of a hydrogen furnace or industrial hydrogen ovens. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Outlook (familiar with using computer programs). Good manual dexterity. Experience using a microscope for extended periods of time. Must be able to follow both oral and written instructions.
