An international plastics manufacturer near the Monee, IL area is searching for a motivated Maintenance Trainee to support their operations. The ideal candidate will be strongly mechanically-inclined, and demonstrate willingness to learn from real hands-on experience with industrial maintenance. This is a full-time and direct-hire, permanent position, running on a 12-hour shift schedule with rotating weekends (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 3 days off). The current opening is on night shift (6:45pm – 7:15am). Pay begins from $20 – 24 per hour, plus an additional off-shift differential. Maintenance Trainee Responsibilities: Perform preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial equipment, including plastic fabrication and forming machinery (injection-molding and blow-molding equipment) Learn from experienced industrial maintenance technicians Troubleshoot and repair systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and other related components. Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment as needed Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and hydraulic and pneumatic drawings Install, repair, and modify machinery Other duties as assigned Maintenance Trainee Requirements 0 – 3 years of industrial maintenance experience, or relevant trades certification or training preferred Previous experience with injection-molding, blow-molding, or plastics fabrication preferred Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn and grow skills High school diploma Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively Ability to work nights Strong problem-solving skills and time management ability This position includes manufacturing and warehousing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 30 pounds, lift in excess of 50 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
