IIOT Solution Lead Engineer Remote w/ open to some travel to client site - standard travel expenses reimbursed(TX/Dallas) Hitachi Custom Skill Requirements Edge Device Configuration & Deployment Configure, deploy, & manage IIoT edge devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Siemens IoT2040, Azure IoT Edge, etc.) Interface with industrial equipment (PLCs, SCADA, OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, etc.) programming/scripting languages: Python, C++, or Node.js Contractor Qualifying Questions Are you able to configure, deploy, and manage IIoT edge devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Siemens IoT2040, Azure IoT Edge, etc.)? Do you have experience with Interface with industrial equipment (PLCs, SCADA, OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, etc.)? Are you able to travel to the client site possible 3days/wk? Can you design and implement data acquisition pipelines for edge-based processing? Are you able to develop and deploy microservices or containers to run analytics or preprocessing at the edge? Do you have Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields? Do you have Manufacturing experience? Do you have 3+ years of hands-on experience in IIoT or Edge Computing environments? Are you proficient in programming/scripting languages: Python, C++, or Node.js? Do you have Certificates such as Azure IoT Developer? AWS IoT Speciality? or ISA/IEC 62443 security standards? We are seeking an experienced and passionate IIoT Edge Engineer to design, develop, and deploy edge computing solutions for our industrial systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for connecting machines, sensors, and controllers to edge gateways, enabling real-time data processing and integration with cloud or on-premises analytics platforms. ? Key Responsibilities: Edge Device Configuration & Deployment: Configure, deploy, and manage IIoT edge devices (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson, Siemens IoT2040, Azure IoT Edge, etc.) Interface with industrial equipment (PLCs, SCADA, OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, etc.) Data Acquisition & Processing: Design and implement data acquisition pipelines for edge-based processing Develop and deploy microservices or containers to run analytics or preprocessing at the edge Connectivity & Integration: Establish secure connectivity between edge devices and central/cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, etc.) Collaborate with IT/OT teams to ensure reliable and secure data transfer Monitoring & Maintenance: Set up health checks, diagnostics, and remote monitoring of deployed edge solutions Perform firmware and software updates as needed for security and performance Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and OT engineers Document system designs, deployment configurations, and troubleshooting procedures ? Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields 3+ years of hands-on experience in IIoT or Edge Computing environments Proficient in programming/scripting languages: Python, C++, or Node.js Experience with IIoT protocols: MQTT, OPC UA, Modbus, REST APIs Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes Familiarity with Linux-based systems and edge platforms (Azure IoT Edge, AWS Greengrass, Balena, etc.) ? Preferred Qualifications: Experience with real-time video/image processing (e.g., OpenCV on edge) Understanding of cybersecurity principles for industrial networks Exposure to machine learning models deployed at the edge Hands-on experience with industrial automation systems (PLC, DCS, HMI) Certifications such as Azure IoT Developer, AWS IoT Specialty, or ISA/IEC 62443 security standards ? Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking Ability to work in cross-functional and multi-site teams Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to travel to industrial sites for deployment and support -Process Flows -Mentor and Knowledge transfer to client project team members -Participate as primary, co and/or contributing author on any and all project deliverables associated with their assigned areas of responsibility -Participate in data conversion and data maintenance -Provide best practice and industry specific solutions -Advise on and provide alternative (out of the box) solutions -Provide thought leadership as well as hands on technical configuration/development as needed. -Participate as a team member of the team -Perform other duties as assigned.
