PURPOSE: Responsible for developing, implementing and managing internal and external quality control systems and procedures. Lead, oversee, and direct the activities of the quality assurance personnel as well as coordinating customer and supplier relations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plan, layout, and assign work according to schedule and individual skills and abilities for most efficient quality operations; follow setup and progress of work; anticipate or investigate delays or inadequate performance and take corrective action; arrange for equipment, materials, and supplies to be available for work assignment. Develop and maintain quality standards for inspection and production personnel; develop computer oriented systems to process data; maintain quality records for compliance. Lead APQP activity to initiate new products into the quality system. Develop necessary documentation to track new products. Establish visual aids for production staff to utilize for determining if product meets customer requirements. Ensure compliance with company directed quality systems and certifications. Work with customers to verify specification, critical dimensions and initial sample inspection deadlines; resolve problems, returned production; initiate corrective action as required. Lead activity to facilitate submission and approval of samples to Robin Mexicana from new molds for transition to production. Work with suppliers to report problems, arrange for returns, and negotiate corrective actions. Investigate corrective actions; work with technical and manufacturing personnel for solutions. Serve as point person in customer and agency audits. Ensure the highest level of internal and external customer service. Enforce prescribed safety rules and regulations; insure that work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly condition. ADDITIONAL SKILLS OR CREDENTIALS: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control functions, including but not limited to APQP, PPAP, AIAG core tools (FMEA, Control Plan, etc.). Knowledgeable in ISO and Automotive (ISO/TS 16949), ISO 13485, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards. Knowledge of FDA 21 CFR 820 would be a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint Skilled at staying organized, multitasking, and planning workload Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience in writing procedures, instructions and 8D-5Why reports. Experience working for a manufacturer of elastomeric materials (preferred) Experience training other employees (preferred) Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to position or move, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/ or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 bs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
