is seeking a
Director of Laboratory
to provide strategic, operational, and regulatory oversight across both clinical and anatomic pathology services. In this senior leadership role, you will shape the direction of a dynamic lab team, ensure top-tier standards of patient care, and help advance laboratory services in alignment with the organization's mission. Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day and long-term operations across clinical and pathology laboratory services
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (CLEP, NYSDOH, CLIA, CAP)
Supervise, evaluate, and mentor laboratory staff; manage scheduling and performance
Maintain and update lab SOPs, quality programs, licensure, and inspection readiness
Oversee new test implementation, instrumentation, and lab process improvements
Direct QA/QC activities including calibrations, proficiency testing, and audits
Serve as a technical resource, performing bench duties as needed ( % of time)
Manage vendor contracts, equipment maintenance, and supply chains
Foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist license
(required)
8 10+ years
of progressive lab experience, with proven leadership responsibilities
Prior
management or directorship
experience strongly preferred
Deep understanding of laboratory regulatory and accreditation standards
Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment
