Responsibilities
- Completes shipments by processing and loading orders; reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Unloads, receives and puts away incoming goods and merchandise; unpacks containers; checks for damage and discrepancies; may install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit from truck to warehouse and/or shelving.
- Accurately sorts, labels, moves, and stores goods according to predetermined sequence; arranges storage to optimize warehouse space; follows work orders or verbal instructions to locate materials.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Prepares, picks, packs, and dispatches outgoing goods; uses pick sheets to locate items; handles products from shelves to pallets with a pallet jack or forklift and verifies product and quantity accuracy.
- Loads trucks for customer delivery; may install protective materials to prevent shifting or damage during transport; checks for damage and discrepancies between goods and shipping work orders.
- Consolidates freight for shipping, verifies shipping method, and communicates oversize loads to freight carriers; ensures shipping routes are maintained.
- Enters data into a database or computerized system to maintain stock records; responds to inquiries about inventory levels or delivery schedules; documents discrepancies and seeks corrective action.
- Operates warehouse equipment as needed (e.g., forklifts, cherry-picking lifts, pallet jacks).
- Assists in inventory level maintenance and inventory counts.
- Performs other duties as assigned and follows warehouse safety regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience and/or training.
- Experience in loading/unloading, picking, packing, or moving goods in a warehouse; forklift/cherry picker experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, work orders, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Basic computer knowledge; proficiency with MS-Office and warehouse software (e.g., Vista, Control, SX.e, Prophet 21) preferred.
- Basic mathematical skills; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Ability to compile routine reports and write concise correspondence; able to work in a team and be self-motivated.
- Attention to detail and safety-mindedness.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

- Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 50 lbs or more with assistance; standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crouching, climbing, and balancing; vision requirements.
