General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations if performance of these tasks will help achieve our Customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in all activities.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treat all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assist Customers as needed—register-trained, assist with merchandise, answer questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner; greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly greeting; say "+hello" and "+thank you" at appropriate times.
- Provide prompt responses to Customer service needs; respond to service calls immediately and involve Store Leadership when necessary.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping) and replenish restrooms to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company's dress code.
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and efficiently merchandised to standards.
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines and maintain brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Follow MOS policies (Market-Out-of-Stock), identify MOS merchandise, process disposals with Store Leadership approval.
- Follow policies regarding cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with tenders.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
- Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $14.00 - $14.50 per hour. The range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package.
