Position: Internal Medicine, part of Optum, has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient-focused and detail-oriented Receptionist. The Receptionist completes set processes and protocols, supports the care team to deliver excellent customer service, adheres to Lean processes, and helps the team meet financial, clinical and service goals.
Schedule: A 40-hour work week to be determined by the supervisor. Monday through Friday between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm. Rotating Saturdays between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm. Schedule determined by the supervisor at hire.

Primary Responsibilities
- Obtain accurate and updated patient information (name, address, insurance information)
- Perform insurance verification on the date of service
- Obtain patient signatures for required documents
- File, fax and maintain medical records
- Confirm and schedule appointments
- Answer incoming and outgoing telephone calls promptly and courteously
- Follow the Cash Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
- Perform referral documentation promptly
- Schedule follow-up services for patients (e.g., scheduling specialist appointments)
- Adhere to standards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee Policies
- Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve team goals
- Contribute in a high-paced environment
- Ensure continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems
- Provide effective communication to patients, families, team members and other health care professionals as evidenced by documentation and notes
- Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care
- Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and managing the fax server
- Maintain patient confidentiality and abide by HIPAA and OSHA requirements
- Crosstrain and help in other locations if needed
- Performs other duties as assigned

Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. The hourly pay range for this role is $16.00 to $27.69 per hour for full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of customer service or healthcare-related experience
- Intermediate computer proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Ability to cover other offices if needed
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a medical office performing scheduling, check-in/out, insurance verification, co-pay collection, and medical records maintenance
- Experience with an electronic health record (EPIC)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Bilingual in Spanish or Cantonese or Mandarin and English
