This role is with Internal Medicine, part of Optum, and has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient-focused and detail-oriented Receptionist.

Location and Schedule

Location: 355 Kear Street, Second Floor, Yorktown, NY 10598

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40-hour work week between 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Rotating Saturdays between 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Schedule to be determined by the hiring manager upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address and insurance information
  • Perform insurance verification on the date of service
  • Obtain patient signatures for required documents
  • File, fax and maintain medical records
  • Confirm and schedule appointments
  • Answer incoming and outgoing telephone calls promptly and courteously
  • Follow the Cash Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
  • Perform referral documentation promptly
  • Perform follow-up services for patients in a prompt and courteous manner, such as scheduling specialist appointments
  • Adhere to the standards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee Policies
  • Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve team goals
  • Comfortable working in a high pace environment
  • Assure continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems
  • Provide effective communication to patient/family/team members and other health care professionals as evidenced by documentation, case conferences, communication notes, and evaluations
  • Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care
  • Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and monitoring the fax server, retrieving and/or scanning documents and assigning to the appropriate electronic chart
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA and OSHA requirements
  • Crosstrain and help in other locations if needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency (multi-tasking through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
  • Ability to cover other offices if needed
  • Ability to work a 40-hour week to include rotating Saturdays

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working in medical front office (scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, co-pays, maintaining medical records)
  • Experience with an electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications. The hourly pay range is $16.00 to $27.69 per hour for full-time work. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
