Are you a great storyteller and team leader? We are looking for someone who can create a compelling story and use brand management strategy, lead and support a team, drive retail sales to support our mission, and engage customers and donors on an emotional or personal level.

The Marketing Manager will lead and supervise the marketing team members, manage the daily functions of the Marketing team, as well as execute marketing initiatives for the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring the execution of brand communications for various stakeholders of Goodwill of Central Iowa (GCI) by understanding the organizational goals, strategies, and priorities and planning communication campaigns to meet those expectations.

What you’ll do here

  • Collaborates across organization departments to create strategic marketing plans and initiatives while using our values of love, kindness and respect.
  • Supervises marketing team members to ensure they and the department are meeting expectations, deadlines, following processes, and providing outstanding customer service.
  • Executes assigned internal and external brand and marketing communication strategies and plans, including but not limited to print, online, digital, broadcast, and other collateral.
  • Establishes both short and long-term goals for marketing campaigns and provides data driven results.
  • Uses market research data and methods to understand GCI audiences and market trends.
  • Oversees multiple projects with varying timelines ensuring timely execution.
  • Leads the creation of content plans and calendars, coordinating with multiple departments to understand marketing communication needs and their alignment with the organization’s strategic plan.
  • Partners with internal teams as well as external vendors and freelancers for creation of marketing materials that meet expectations and budget.
  • Ensures consistency and compliance of organizational brand is met; assures relevant and accurate messaging for varying stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains processes to deliver excellent customer service for internal customer marketing needs.
  • Creates annual marketing budget and manages expenses for all projects.
  • Identifies community events and leads external promotional activities to promote GCI.
  • Supports the Marketing team with internal and external digital and print content creation as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in marketing, communications, journalism or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related marketing role including at least 12 months of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • This position requires excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work with a variety of people in a professional and respectful manner and have excellent written, verbal, and social communication skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and plan work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel to various locations within central Iowa.
  • Access to reliable transportation for regular participation in work and possess valid Iowa Driver’s License, a good driving record, insurable, and able to provide proof of personal vehicle insurance with a minimum of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident auto insurance liability coverage.

What we are looking for

  • Highly proficient in Adobe suite, email platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Non-profit marketing experience is preferred.
  • Experience with SEO/SEM, email campaigns, and merchandising.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in graphic design and understanding of HTML use in website design.
  • Experience with WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and photo and video editing platforms.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of stationary work at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization facilities.
  • Must be able to travel as needed within GCI territory to GCI sites, community partner sites, and other external engagements.
