Position: Mechanic

Location: Pensacola, FL

Reports to: Branch Manager

Southway is looking to add an experienced full-time crane mechanic to our growing branch. The following are the requirements; you must meet all the requirements below to be considered for this position.

Summary: Southway Crane and Rigging Inc. is currently seeking a full-time experienced Crane Technician/Mechanic to help build our branch location. The mechanic will perform maintenance and repairs on cranes, forklifts, and other various equipment. Follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicles. Follows all safety and environmental policies while performing job tasks. Candidate shall be able to perform inspections, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes (all-terrain, rough terrain, boom trucks, etc.). Must have experience as a mechanic with electrical and hydraulics in modern crane technology.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 3 years' experience as mobile crane mechanic/technician with ability to inspect cranes to diagnose defects
• Working knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, ECOS, LICCON SYSTEMS
• Reads and understands operating, parts manuals, and technical drawings
• Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modifications to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications
• Capable of working independently without direct supervision
• Observes and maintains all equipment according to safety requirements
• Maintains all reports (time sheets, work orders, expense reports, etc.)
• Ability to work overtime and weekends
• Possesses valid driver's license and clean driving record
• TWIC card or ability to readily acquire TWIC card

Responsibilities:

• Supply own tools with up-to-date inventory (shop provides a variety of specialty tools)
• Perform scheduled maintenance on cranes, forklifts, and other equipment
• Document all maintenance and repairs and file records properly
• Strong work ethic and commitment to quality
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Lift up to 40 lbs
• Pass drug screen and background check
• Understand electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits (a plus)
• Work some evenings and weekends at the shop
• Ability to verbally communicate safety issues to customers and co-workers on location
• Report to Supervisor and/or Lead Mechanic on completion of assigned task
• Other duties as assigned
