Overview

Eaton Corporations Commercial and Residential Distribution Solutions (CRDS) Division is seeking a Director of Quality for its Commercial Products and Assemblies (CPA) business. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position leads Quality for a $2.8 billion division with over 4,200 employees and five manufacturing facilities in the US and Mexico. This role can be based at Charlotte, NC; Sumter or Hodges, SC; Cleveland, TN; or El Paso, TX.

Position Overview

The Director is responsible for developing and executing the Quality strategy for the division and leading the functional team to deliver the highest levels of value quality can provide. The role ensures best-in-class quality for products produced and supplied to CPA customers. Responsibilities include managing business and plant quality systems, customer satisfaction and scorecard management, standardizing quality processes, achieving metrics aligned with annual profit plan targets (including Customer and Supplier DPPM, CONC and Cost-Out), and supporting product warranty programs, EQMS, customer satisfaction indicators, plant and product certifications, and division-level quality assurance roadmaps to improve customer satisfaction and global competitiveness.

Essential Functions
  • Provide Quality leadership across the division to drive collaborative strategies and ensure active leadership from management and ownership by all employees.
  • Responsible for the Quality Management System / EQMS / Certifications within the Division.
  • Identify and lead prevention-based initiatives to address common barriers for the division and plants and enable sustainable improvements.
  • Lead development of Quality strategy and roadmap to support business, customer, product, and operations requirements and expectations.
  • Coordinate operational strategies and deployment for effective quality processes and tools, including Six Sigma, APQP planning and PPAP.
  • Drive key quality metrics and provide functional leadership to Plant Operations & Quality management to improve performance and standardization of best practices.
  • Build organizational capability across the division by supporting and leading training strategies to build Quality competencies.
  • Support division facilities as a central point of contact for all customer-related processes.
  • Establish effective warranty policies, tracking, analytics and reporting to drive product line level improvements, contributing to productivity goals.
  • Drive internal and external Supplier Quality Development by targeting critical commodities and Focus Suppliers to significantly reduce supplier defects.
  • Manage the customer interface to ensure that quality requirements in the division are understood and met by all plants.
  • Monitor the process for plant quality managers to regularly engage with customers to drive continuous improvement in satisfaction measures.
Position Criteria
  • Ability to demonstrate proven experience in process development, implementation and sustainability.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a matrix organization, in virtual teams (across locations) and cross-cultural environments.
  • Ability to interact with others, establishing open, candid, and trusting relationships.
  • Ability to influence others through leadership skills.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to see the big picture and motivate others toward common goals.
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of problem solving tools/methods (Six Sigma, 8D, etc.), goal setting, and performance tracking.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
Required Qualifications
  • 10 years of experience in quality, manufacturing or engineering.
  • Experience with product assurance methods and quality systems.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Black Belt Certification.
  • Strong Six Sigma process improvement knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with the quality assurance of electrical systems or products.
  • ASQ CQM or CQE certified.
Education
  • An undergraduate degree is required. A Masters degree is preferred.

  • Eaton recognizes this role as a critical position within the corporation and will create a compelling package consisting of a base salary, employee incentive compensation and complete benefits.
