Reports to: Branch Manager
The Financial Services Officer is a seasoned position, responsible for building member relationships and assisting with complex financial needs including consumer loans, mortgage loans, account services, and financial education. This role serves as a trusted advisor, delivering tailored solutions that meet each members financial goals. This role may be a licensed mortgage loan officer at the senior level.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth member consultations to understand financial goals and recommend appropriate credit union products and services.
- Assist with all aspects of consumer and mortgage lending including loan applications, processing, and closing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of credit union products, rates, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Support member onboarding by opening accounts and explaining credit union services.
- Follow up on leads and referrals to deepen member relationships.
- Meet or exceed performance standards in relation to loan production, deposit growth and member retention.
- Obtain and maintain a book of business in efforts for growing and retaining membership.
- Identify member needs and cross-sell appropriate financial solutions and meet all production expectations.
- Ensure loan files and member records are accurate and compliant with internal and regulatory standards.
- Act as a liaison between the member and other departments to resolve service issues. May open and service new member accounts.
- Act as a lead to the FSR role and other colleagues.
- Support branch and team goals through collaboration and service excellence.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in banking, credit unions, or financial services in this capacity.
- Proven knowledge of consumer and mortgage lending and account servicing.
- Proven track record of meeting and/or exceeding production goals.
- Excellent interpersonal, consultative, and sales skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
- Experience using loan origination systems and core banking platforms.
Preferred:
- Associates or Bachelors degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
- Experience working in a credit union or similar regulated financial institution
- Knowledge of NCUA regulatory reporting requirements
- Experience with accounting system implementation or upgrades (e.g., Fiserv, Jack Henry, QuickBooks Enterprise)
Additional Expectations
- Standard office environment with periodic extended hours during month-end and year-end reporting
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform tasks using a computer
- Occasional travel may be required for training or audits
