Find your next career opportunity and make a difference doing what you love at Children's.Job DescriptionTo plan, implement and evaluate the provision of high-quality medical care, with appropriate resource management, to children and adolescents in the respective clinical area.The successful candidate will be a key member of our growing teamof 28 pulmonologists, including eight who practice sleep medicine,16 advanced practice practitioners, including two who practicesleep medicine, and 14 PhDs.The pulmonology team includes research faculty with a broad rangeof expertise, but with a strong focus on cystic fibrosis, asthma andother airway diseases. Staff members also have expertise in treatingmedically complex children from birth through 21 years of age,including those with craniofacial abnormalities and geneticsyndromes. We have a busy and diverse clinical service withexperienced faculty who specialize in pulmonary hypertension,aerodigestive disorders, sleep medicine, pulmonary sickle celldisease, technology-dependent children, severe asthma and cysticfibrosis.The sleep medicine physician will have the following responsibilitiesalong with additional duties as assigned:Perform complete physical assessments.Conduct sleep studies.Order medications and medical devices as needed.Perform and order tests in a timely manner.Participate with all quality improvements and assuranceinitiatives.Use and endorse the use of all the practice's automated systemsas needed.Conduct appropriate follow-up to ensure appropriate levels ofcare.Ensure all preventative medicine testing is conducted on aroutine basis.The position will offer the opportunity to teach residents andmentor graduating fellows.Qualifications include:•Graduate of an accredited, four-year medical school.•Graduate of an accredited, post graduate residency program InPediatrics or Med/Peds.•Graduate of an accredited, post graduate fellowship training InSleep Medicine.•Board certified or eligible in Sleep Medicine.•Licensed in the state of Georgia, current DEA registration, BLS andPALS certification.Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Children's•We are specialized in our ability to evaluate sleep disorderedbreathing in children with complex medical conditions such asneuromuscular disease, craniofacial syndrome, chronic lungdiseases and respiratory control disorders.•Our pediatric pulmonologists participate in many highlyspecialized, multidisciplinary programs and clinics, including thosefor high-risk asthma, aerodigestive disorders, flexiblebronchoscopy, primary ciliary dyskinesia, neuromusculardisorders, diaphragm pacing for congenital centralhypoventilation syndrome (CCHS) and pulmonary hypertension.•Our Aerodigestive Clinic is one of the largest pediatricaerodigestive clinics in the country and one of the only in theSoutheast.•Children's Cystic Fibrosis Program is accredited by the nationalCystic Fibrosis Foundation and is among the largest in thecountry.•We actively lead and participate in a myriad of NIH fundedinvestigator-initiated clinical and basic science research efforts inaddition to industry-sponsored clinical research activitiesperformed through the Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutic DevelopmentNetwork.•We oversee an active ACGME-accredited pediatric pulmonologyfellowship training program and a non-ACGME-accreditedpediatric sleep medicine fellowship training program.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and families and as a team member.Meets eligibility requirements for credentialing as part of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Professional Staff.Demonstrates the following skills in accomplishing job duties and responsibilities: personal organization and time management, human relations and teamwork, personal adaptability, personal motivation, and listening.Job ResponsibilitiesProvides patient care within the respective clinical area which complies with the Professional Staff Bylaws, rules and regulations and Children's policies and procedures.Participates in and incorporates Quality Improvement and research findings into practice.Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient/family and staff education.Educate and assist trainees with medical decision making.Provides an authenticated report of all physician services rendered and maintains accurate and complete records in an acceptable manner.Completes necessary documentation and ensures timely communication to facilitate patient care and appropriate reimbursement.Actively responds to patient and clinical staff questions and requests.Participates in meetings/activities as required to support operations of the clinical area.Participates in activities that enhance professional development, complete, and maintain certification in BLS, PALS, or NALS and maintains any additional specialty training/certifications as required by the area assigned.Performs other responsibilities as required.Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants and employees without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, citizenship, age, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic covered by applicable law.Primary Location Address2174 North Druid Hills Rd NEJob FamilyPhysician
