nThis position will Provides structural engineering support to Department and Consultant staff in areas of highway structures plans, analysis and design.

nYour Specific Responsibilities:
nReviews Category 1 highway structures plans and other technical documents such as Design Variations, Design Exceptions, typical section packages and maintenance permits. Assists Central Office with reviews of moderately complex Category 2 structures plans, continuous post-tensioned girders and post tensioned substructure components. Review’s contractor-initiated submittals and provides recommendations to construction personnel.
nPerforms structural analysis and design, quantity calculations and prepares plans for Category 1 bridges and other highway structures for in-house Department projects. Completes Quality Assurance/Quality Control reviews of design calculations and plans. As a registered professional engineer, this position oversees and/or signs and seals plans, reports and other documents as required.
nAssists with the development of scopes of services and staff hour estimates for Department and Consultant design projects. Negotiates staff hours for consultant design projects. Assists with the development of Requests for Proposals (RFP) for non-conventional bid projects. Provides structural engineering support for and serves on Technical Review Committees and Value Engineering Studies as required.
nProvides structural engineering support to Department and Consultant staff in areas of highway structures plans, analysis and design. Provides guidance and clarification of design standards, criteria and plans preparation. Identifies and solves moderately complex structural engineering design issues
