Senior Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Des Moines, Iowa. This long-term contract role focuses on property accounting, fixed assets management, and accurate capitalization processes. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise to ensure compliance, maintain asset records, and deliver valuable financial insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all property accounting functions, including transaction recording and reconciliation.
  • Manage and maintain the fixed assets register to ensure accurate tracking, capitalization, and depreciation.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and schedules related to property and fixed assets.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies regarding asset capitalization and management.
  • Conduct audits of property and asset records to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborate with various departments to provide financial analysis and support for property-related activities.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts concerning fixed assets and properties.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance property and asset accounting operations.
  • Utilize accounting software and tools to streamline financial reporting and analysis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in property accounting, fixed assets, and capitalization.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices related to asset management.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, or SAP, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across teams.
  • Proven experience with month-end close processes, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
