Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, haul trucks, and support vehicles.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine issues.
- Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or other service needs and communicate issues to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and work orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify equipment issues and complete necessary repairs.
- Replace and repair parts such as bearings, brakes, hoses, seals, and other mechanical components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies.
- Support field teams by preparing equipment for mobilization or demobilization.
- Occasionally assist with welding or fabrication work as needed.
- High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in diesel/heavy equipment repair preferred.
- 2+ years of experience working with heavy equipment, preferably in a civil construction or earthwork setting.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy equipment systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency with power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
- Must have own set of mechanic tools appropriate for heavy equipment work.
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus).
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
