Overview We are hiring a Senior Talent Sourcer to join our Global Talent Acquisition Team! As a Senior Talent Sourcer supporting Core Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and engaging top-tier engineering talent across backend, infrastructure, systems, and AI-adjacent domains. You’ll partner closely with recruiters, hiring managers, and product leaders to build inclusive, high-impact pipelines that support Microsoft’s most strategic technical initiatives.

This role is for someone who sees sourcing not as a funnel—but as a craft. You thrive in ambiguity, move with urgency, and know how to decode teams and match talent to mission.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years talent acquisition experience (e.g., recruiting, sourcing), HR experience, or industry experience related to role; OR equivalent experience.

5+ years of end-to-end talent sourcing experience

5+ years of experience analyzing talent market trends to consult hiring managers on recruiting strategies

4+ years of technical talent sourcing experience

3+ years experience sourcing for software engineering roles across backend, infrastructure, mobile, or full-stack functions

Additional or preferred qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years talent acquisition experience (e.g., recruiting, sourcing), HR experience, or industry experience related to role; OR Master's Degree AND 8+ years talent acquisition experience (e.g., recruiting, sourcing), HR experience, or industry experience related to role; OR equivalent experience.

Talent Acquisition IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.

Responsibilities

Build and execute sourcing strategies across backend, infra, systems, and platform engineering roles.

Map high-signal talent across startups, labs, and technical communities.

Track talent movement and anticipate sourcing triggers using market insights and competitor analysis.

Stakeholder Engagement

Partner directly with engineering and product leaders to define role requirements and calibrate profiles.

Present search strategies, talent insights, and pipeline health metrics to influence hiring decisions.

Lead intake and calibration conversations to evolve search criteria based on candidate signals and business needs.

Candidate Engagement

Tell compelling business stories to elicit interest from passive candidates.

Deliver a high-touch candidate experience from initial outreach to handoff.

Build long-term relationships with talent aligned to Microsoft’s mission and values.

Data-Driven Execution

Use funnel metrics, pass-through rates, and decline data to inform sourcing strategy.

Share weekly insights with recruiting partners and hiring managers to guide decision-making.
