Role Overview:
The Lead Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will oversee a region consisting of approximately 35 properties, acting as the primary HR contact for leaders and associates. In this vital role, you will combine supportive associate engagement with proactive strategic partnership in key areas such as employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning. You will be instrumental in resolving concerns, advising leaders on cultivating high-performing teams, and providing insights that foster engagement, retention, and compliance throughout the region.
Reporting to the Senior Director, HRBP, you will work independently while collaborating closely with regional leaders and cross-functional teams including Total Rewards, Learning & Development, and Talent Acquisition.
This position is remote but requires regular travel to properties within your region as well as to the corporate office in Houston, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
Regional HR Partnership
Act as the primary HR partner for leaders and associates in ~35 properties. Build trust with Regional Managers, Community Managers, and Maintenance Managers to address business needs with strategic HR support. Serve as a coach and advisor to leaders to develop high-performing, engaged teams.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Be the initial point of contact for associate inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution. Conduct investigations, manage corrective actions, and ensure consistent application of company policies. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and internal policies. Proactively identify and mitigate risks while upholding a positive employee experience.
Performance & Talent Management
Collaborate with leaders on performance management processes, including goal setting and coaching. Support talent reviews, succession planning, and skill development initiatives. Work with Talent Acquisition on hiring and onboarding to enhance the associate experience.
Compensation & Rewards
Provide insights on compensation principles and pay structures. Assist with salary reviews to ensure alignment with guidelines and internal equity.
Organizational Development & Engagement
Champion initiatives that boost engagement, retention, and professional growth. Promote inclusivity throughout the region. Support change management linked to organizational transitions.
HR Metrics & Reporting
Monitor and analyze HR data trends regarding turnover, engagement, and performance. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to leaders based on HR metrics.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
Lead or participate in HR initiatives that enhance processes and increase HR's impact. Create and distribute tools, resources, and training for managers and associates.
Skills, Experience and Professional Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of HRBP experience in a dynamic, fast-paced organization. Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. SHRM certification is highly preferred. Experience in employee relations, compensation management, talent management, and organizational development across multiple states or locations. In-depth understanding of employment laws and regulations (EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust and credibility.
