This role is responsible for obtaining and processing all pertinent clinical information needed for the authorization of professional and medical services. The position responds to patient referrals and works with insurance companies to pre-certify services based on the patient’s benefit plan. Available to work Monday-Friday from 7am-3:30pm. This is a non-benefited position. Flexibility in days/hours may be considered. Banner Staffing Services (BSS) offers Registry/Per Diem opportunities within Banner Health. Registry/Per Diem positions are utilized as needed within our facilities. These positions are a great way to start your career with Banner Health. Obtain and process all pertinent clinical information needed for the authorization of professional and medical services. Respond to patient referrals and work with insurance companies to pre-certify services based on the patient’s benefit plan. Verify patient demographics, codes, dates of service, and clinical data. Re-certify services when necessary. Authorize and schedule appointments. Answer questions about the authorization process and provide information to physicians, patients, and third-party payers. Depending on department/location, inform patients about necessary preparation for procedures or tests. Provide authorization numbers and patient demographic information to appropriate staff, including billing. Inform physicians and staff about the referral process and eligibility issues. Assist with denials and appeals as needed. Document and maintain records of all referral activity and authorizations. Perform related duties as assigned and may cross-cover in other areas. Maintain frequent communication with patients, physicians, staff, and third-party payers. Prioritize tasks within established guidelines with moderate supervision. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with commonly used office software. Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of experience in a medical office or insurance environment. Knowledge of managed care concepts and medical terminology, including ICD9 and CPT codes. Additional Information
Registry/Per Diem positions do not have guaranteed hours and no medical benefits package is offered.
